How Much Is Peace Actually Worth? - Pacific Standard: The Science of Society

Smart people want peace everywhere , because violence costs one hell of a money.

The most recent study published by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) found that violence cost the world $9.46 trillion in 2012 alone. That’s 11 percent of gross world product. By comparison, the cost of the financial crisis was just 0.5 percent of the 2009 global economy.

The intergalactic medium unveiled

The intergalactic medium unveiled

Can you Imagine it :

96 % Dark energy and Dark Matter in the universe

3%    Inter Galactic Medium  IGM in the universe

1%   All stars and Galaxies  in the universe

We are a tiny bit of this 1%

Martin describes the diffuse gas of the IGM as "dim matter," to distinguish it from the bright matter of stars and galaxies, and the dark matter and energy that compose most of the universe. Though you might not think so on a bright sunny day or even a starlit night, fully 96% of the mass and energy in the universe is dark energy and dark matter (first inferred by Caltech's Fritz Zwicky in the 1930s), whose existence we know of only due to its effects on the remaining 4% that we can see: normal matter. Of this 4% that is normal matter, only one-quarter is made up of stars and galaxies, the bright objects that light our night sky. The remainder, which amounts to only about 3% of everything in the universe, is the IGM.

Creationist Battle With Neil deGrasse Tyson of Cosmos Is Humiliating For America

Creationist Battle With Neil deGrasse Tyson of Cosmos Is Humiliating For America

Neil deGrasse Tyson is doing America a great service by attempting to educate the population about science and how it has taken humanity from believing religion has the only answers to dispelling every religious preconception men in positions of power still use to control superstitious people into supporting them as they rape and pillage the Earth. It is likely that creationists, and 46% of the population that clings to Genesis for answers, are incapable of comprehending even a fraction of the science Neil deGrasse Tyson is exposing to the masses every week because their cognitive abilities have been permanently retarded by childish dependence on archaic bible mythology.

Creationist Battle With Neil deGrasse Tyson of Cosmos Is Humiliating For America

Creationist Battle With Neil deGrasse Tyson of Cosmos Is Humiliating For America

The ongoing, and one-sided, battle between creationist Ken Ham of “Answers in Genesis” notoriety and highly-regarded astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson of Fox’s Cosmos is humiliating for America because Ham typifies the right wing evangelical Christian ignorance founded on ancient mythology. Dr. Tyson is not involved in Ham’s battle because one thing he likely learned early in life is that it is futile for a scientist to dialogue with religious fanatics who base their arguments on factless faith. Each episode of the scientific series brings a new charge from Ken Ham, and it is apparent that his primary target is not Neil deGrasse Tyson or Cosmos, but science itself.

Till 20 Th century we had a nice solar  system with 9 well defined planets and astrology doing great business.

What about 21 st century there may be up to 10000 dwarf planets like Pluto in our solar system. The number can go up to 100000 also.

So miracle of 20 TH century is normal science of 21 st century and similarly miracle of 21 st century is going to be normal science of 22 ND century.

Sell Your Crap, Pay Off Your Debt, And Do What You Love! This Makes It All Possible! | Collective-Evolution

Living without Debt is the right way.

Capitalistic society entices you to buy goods/services which you basically do not need .

Best way to entice is to create peer comparison , create jealousy so that you buy what you may not need , because somebody in the advertisement has got that goods and service.

It is actually not worth it , you are not going to carry any goods and services with you , when your time ends on planet earth.

So better live with as little as possible to survive comfortably , so you do not have to buy anything by taking money on Debt everything should be bought with cash on hand.

Life can be heaven this way also.

DNA

DNA is the key.

DNA is the computer hardware as well as software combined , it creates your mind (software) and body (hardware).

If DNA is OK the machine is going to perform whether it is humans or computers only proper fuel/electricity has to be supplied and machine will perform its job as per its potential.

And future belongs to designer babies , and there is no issue with ethics involved here.

Everybody has a right to further prospects of his family tree in future generations.

10 startling facts about global wealth inequality

10 startling facts about global wealth inequality

As this chart shows that :

1.91.6 % of world adult population owns 16.7 % of world wealth

2.8.4 % of world adult population owns 83.3 % of world wealth

That is why so much hue and cry is being raised , because this figure is dangerously diverging from the 80: 20 principal , and it should be brought back to 80:20 principal by affirmative govt. actions , otherwise it will lead to social unrest.

Analysis & Opinion | Reuters

Analysis & Opinion | Reuters

Power without accountability is a real fraud on people in a democracy.

80:20 Rule of Thumb

General rule of thumb has 80: 20 ratio for everything , same is true for wealth also.

Hence 20% of the population will always have 80% of the wealth at any given time ,  whether somebody likes it or not.

Only way out for general population is that so much wealth should be created by the society that 80% of the population with 20 % of the wealth is also able to live with a very decent standard of living.

The things  government can do is :

1.Facilitate wealth creation through legal means which ever way possible.
2.Ensure corruption free society where wealth only gets created through legal means .
3.Any Illegal creation of wealth should be very severely punished so that it becomes an example for future cheats.

Any 80% who wants to be among 20% , they will have to work hard for it real hard , there is no short cut to it.

And there should not be any short cuts also  , as it will create a Healthy society where merit , hard work , Innovation ,brilliance ,smartness gets rewarded through creation of wealth for the individual.

Bottom Line is that Healthy competition is the name of the game. And that is the way Human society should evolve in future also.

Reconsidering the Business of Death | 21st Century Spirituality | Big Think

Reconsidering the Business of Death | 21st Century Spirituality | Big Think

Cremation in electric crematorium is the way forward in future but not for any religious reasons. For God.s sake take religion out of Death.

Because it is  the most convenient ,cheapest and environmental friendly method for disposal of a Dead body.

Earlier we take emotions and blind faith out of disposal of dead body , better it would be for all of us.

Cremations have long been the more expedient and affordable alternative. Many people feel that land used for cemeteries can be put to better use and the rising costs associated with burials is prohibitive. The median pricefor a funeral in 2011 was $7,045, up from $708 in 1960. In that same time, the number of Americans choosing cremation has grown from 3.56% to 42%.

For a country you have measures like GDP and GDP per capita .

USA has the highest GDP in the world for a country approx. 17 trillion USD /per year.

USA per capita GDP is approx. 50000 USD/per annum.

For a individual Citizen what matters is that what is his Net worth that is his Wealth minus his Debit.

At least all USA citizens should have a minimum net worth of 50000 USD at any given time then we can understand  a per capita GDP of 50000 USD/per annum for USA.

Evolution is mind boggling The Plant eaters evolved out of Meat eaters.

Very difficult to predict how humans will evolve , but they will evolve for sure.

New research from the University of Toronto Mississauga demonstrates how carnivores transitioned into herbivores for the first time on land.
"The evolution of herbivory was revolutionary to life on land because it meant terrestrial vertebrates could directly access the vast resources provided by terrestrial plants," says paleontologist Robert Reisz, a professor in the Department of Biology. "These herbivores in turn became a major food resource for large land predators."

The Case for Value Creation Centres: Value Councils go beyond Pricing Councils and Innovation Councils

This is a great topic and it explains the the concept of Value creation in a commercial/non commercial enterprise in a beautiful way.

Actually these days with big data analytic  and  3D printing available.Concept of value creation can be applied in real time for all product and services.

Ask the customer what exactly he wants from a product/service and with big data analytic you will be able to find out many value addition concepts for individual customer , which even customer is not able to spell it out to you directly..

Basic idea is that in future value addition will come through personalized products and services .Mass product and services will also be needed but they will not produce the same value addition for individual customer and hence you will not be able to make customer pay extra for these mass product/services.

Hence bottom line is that future is for personalized products/services for each individual customers by taking help of big data analytic / 3D printing and customer will pay you extra for these personalized products/services.

How Wall Street Banks Cheat Their Clients | LinkedIn

Greed is like water it flows in only one direction , where the money is.

Like water which flows in only one direction where the gravitational pull is.

Frankly, I was stunned by the casualness with which financial executives seem to be willing to betray the interests of their own clients. Read the book yourself for a more comprehensive explanation, but basically what most of the big brokerage houses and banks have been doing is selling information about their clients’ buy and sell orders in advance, so that the high-frequency traders who pay them for this information can “front run” the orders, buying up shares in advance of a client’s buy, or selling them in advance of a sale.
In each case we’re talking about just a few microseconds’ worth of advance notice, not days, but it allows the computer traders to siphon off a penny or so at a time, while taking no risk at all – zero. (High-frequency traders can go for years at a time without a single money-losing day!) When literally tens of thousands of trades are executed every second, it adds up to billions of risk-free dollars per month, taken out of the pockets of a bank’s own clients, whether those clients are big institutional investors and mutual funds, or ordinary consumers trying to improve the performance of their retirement accounts.

China’s new megalopolis would be bigger than Uruguay and more populous than Germany – Quartz

In the long run this is the most cost effective way of urbanization. Instead of going on building new cities where people or business may or may not shift.Put the money on proven horses , expand them .

In India better option would be to expand existing mega cities like  Mumbai , Delhi ,Chennai ,kolkatta ,Hyderabad ,Bangalore ,pune,Ahmadabad ,Chandigarh and Jaipur.

These are proven horses , so any money put here would not be wasted.

This Is What Makes Human Beings So Special – The Foundation of Global Change | Collective-Evolution

This Is What Makes Human Beings So Special – The Foundation of Global Change | Collective-Evolution

The human experience right now encourages us to fend for ourselves. Our society is based on competition, not cooperation. We live our lives in fear of how we look, how we will survive and what our next move in life will be. We are constantly encouraged to think about ourselves, in a world where many believe it is necessary to do so in order to move our lives forward. We are constantly bombarded with false information of global events that shape our perception of the world instead of questioning what we see happening around us.
The truth is, it doesn’t have to be this way. If we come together and cooperate, we could very easily create a system that would provide for everybody on the planet. Our basic needs could be met. Imagine if we created a system where money didn’t come in the way of necessity? Only from this point would we begin to explore our true creativity, and unlock our full potential as a human race. It’s unimaginable to think about the things we would be doing if we had such an experience.

The New American Reality » CounterPunch: Tells the Facts, Names the Names

The US has truly lost the initiative, in the Middle East region and beyond it. The neo-cons’ drunkenness with military power led to costly wars that have overwhelmed the empire beyond salvation. And now, the US foreign policy makers are mere diplomatic firefighters, from Palestine, to Syria to the Ukraine. For the Americans, the last few years have been more than a ‘reality check’, but the new reality itself.

Why Cosmos's ratings don't matter.

Cosmos A Spacetime Odyssey will be remembered in ten, twenty or thirty more years as a great documentary which will have placed our current understandings of science in front of the general public.  This will be remembered and appreciated by a future world much more than it is now.
The impact of a show like Cosmos will be if it inspires just one or two people who are now children to love science

America's economic enemy: Super-low interest rates - The Term Sheet: Fortune's deals blogTerm Sheet

True, the Fed is not obligated to teach the nation fiscal responsibility, but it is within its power. An increase in interest rates would certainly cool down our economy in the short term, as higher borrowing costs discourage business investment, hiring, and spending. All that is temporary, however.
What will replace it is a more conservative culture of borrowing, smarter investment policies (by necessity), and intelligent spending. When money costs what it should, it will force the government, businesses, and consumers to recognize the real value of that money and cut their aspirational coat according to their financial means.

Defending against high-frequency attacks | Quantum Frontiers

We could regulate away HFT, but we wouldn’t be able to get rid of the underlying problems people point to unless we got rid of markets altogether. As with any new industry, there are aspects of HFT that should be better monitored and regulated, but we should have level-heads and diverse data points as we continue this discussion. As with most important problems, I believe the ultimate solution here lies in educating the public. Or in other words, this is my plug for Python classes for all children!!

The Daily Reckoning by Bill Bonner

The Daily Reckoning by Bill Bonner

For example, most of modern economists are dead wrong about how an economy works. They think it is a simple machine; all they have to do is to adjust some knobs and levers to make it run better. If it runs too hot, they turn down the dials on fiscal and monetary stimulus. It if sputters and coughs, they turn them up But what really happens? They misinterpret...they wait too long or act too soon...and they invariably make the situation worse by sending the wrong signals at just the wrong time.
Most modern economists think the key to economic growth is consumer spending. This is obviously wrong too. It's not spending that causes prosperity, it's saving. Spending is the result of economic progress, not the cause of it. Still, they think that if they can just get the American consumer to spend money he doesn't have on things he doesn't need, somehow, the world will be a better place. The real problem now too much private sector debt in the anglo-saxon economies. But economists think they can solve the problem by adding even more debt in the public sector!

Alone in the Cosmos - The Chronicle Review - The Chronicle of Higher Education

Alone in the Cosmos - The Chronicle Review - The Chronicle of Higher Education

Our little world has become lost in an immense universe that holds more planets than there are grains in a cubic mile of fine sand. To add insult to injury, the announcement in March by the Bicep2 research group that gravitational waves were generated in the very early universe supports cosmological models in which even the most distant visible galaxies are relatively near neighbors in a possibly infinite universe—a universe that is, itself, just one component of an unimaginably vast multiverse. While half a millennium ago we thought ourselves the center of the cosmos, in the modern conception of the universe we have become less significant than microbes on a mote of dust.

BJP Will Ban FDI In Retail But Offers Other Goodies To Business - Forbes

The Modi government gave Indian billionaire Gautam Adani several hundred acres of grazing land to build a port, a power plant and a special economic zone (Adani Port & Special Economic Zone) for as little as one U.S. cent a square meter (the rate maxed out at 45 cents a square meter). He in turn has sublet this land to other companies, including state-owned Indian Oil Co., for as much as $11 a square meter. Between 2005 and 2007 at least 1,200 hectares of grazing land was taken away from villagers.
While the port has become Adani’s cash cow, the company while constructing the area and the SEZ, violated multiple green rules at different points of its mammoth project–destroying mangroves, filling creeks and causing land and water degradation by dumping fly ash.

An Adaptation From ‘Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt,’ by Michael Lewis - NYTimes.com

Technology had collided with Wall Street in a peculiar way. It had been used to increase efficiency. But it had also been used to introduce a peculiar sort of market inefficiency. Taking advantage of loopholes in some well-meaning regulation introduced in the mid-2000s, some large amount of what Wall Street had been doing with technology was simply so someone inside the financial markets would know something that the outside world did not. The same system that once gave us subprime-mortgage collateralized debt obligations no investor could possibly truly understand now gave us stock-market trades involving fractions of a penny that occurred at unsafe speeds using order types that no investor could possibly truly understand. That is why Brad Katsuyama’s desire to explain things so that others would understand was so seditious. He attacked the newly automated financial system at its core, where the money was made from its incomprehensibility.

Neil deGrasse Tyson and ‘Cosmos’ Strengthen Religion and Faith for Some

Neil deGrasse Tyson and ‘Cosmos’ Strengthen Religion and Faith for Some

Atheists and religious people who accept science only disagree on one detail: what happened right before the Big Bang. Religious people who accept scientific evidence believe that God created the Big Bang; atheists believe in Stephen Hawking’s view, which is that “the universe can and will create itself from nothing.”
However, nearly everyone who accepts science; religious and non-religious alike, accepts the Big Bang, evolution and the fact that the universe is billions of years old. Therefore, there is no reason for religious people to be in conflict with atheists, since the two groups agree on nearly everything except the detail of exactly how the Big Bang occurred.
